Neurologist & Epileptologist

Dr Jia is an Epileptologist and General Neurologist with extensive clinical experience and a strong commitment to improving neurological care.

Currently serving as an Epilepsy Fellow at Prince of Wales Hospital under Professor Somerville, Dr Jia specialises in the diagnosis and management of complex epilepsy cases utilising personalised care strategies. She is actively involved in both inpatient and outpatient care, providing comprehensive services for patients with a wide range of neurological disorders. Dr Jia’s expertise extends beyond epilepsy to include headache/migraine, stroke medicine, neuro-immunology, and general neurology, making her a versatile clinician with a broad scope of practice.

Before embarking on her medical career, Dr Jia developed a strong academic foundation with a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. These qualifications enriched her understanding of medical science and pharmacology, equipping her with the knowledge and skills essential to her clinical practice in neurology. Dr Jia completed her medical degree at the University of Sydney. She completed her basic physician training at Princess Alexandra Hospital, a major tertiary hospital in Brisbane, Queensland. Dr Jia returned to Sydney to undertake her advanced neurology training at several tertiary hospitals, including Nepean Hospital, St George Hospital, and Prince of Wales Hospital, where she developed expertise in general neurology and epilepsy. Dr Jia’s dual expertise in epilepsy and general neurology, combined with her leadership and academic involvement, offers patients comprehensive and innovative neurological care.
